A teenager behind a Twitter account tracking Elon Musk’s private jet has changed focus. He is now focusing on Russian tycoons.

Russian Oligarch Jets, a new Instagram account has been tracking activities of the wealthiest business people in Russia. The page is also reporting where and when their planes are taking off and landing. The account’s automated stream released its first post on Saturday after the US sanctioned several people on President Putin’s close circle. The US is also going to hunt down and freeze its assets. They will also be freezing their access to their multiple residences and luxury yachts.
Unfortunately, despite the several sanctions aimed at the Russian elites, Russian tycoons are traveling the world on their private jets and yachts. Russian elites have started relocating their luxury yachts to the Maldives and Montenegro to avoid their confiscations. Several of their private jets and helicopters are on the move. The Oligarch Jets account has been following several aircraft that are owned by Roman Abramovich, a Russian Billionaire. The account also revealed a ride to the Caribbean on Monday. The account is tracking 39 aircraft belonging to 19 Russian tycoons.
Who is the teen behind Russian Oligarch Jets?
Jack Sweeney is a 19-year-old college freshman at the University of Central Florida. He is famous for tracking Elon Musk‘s private jet every time it took a flight. Using bots, Sweeney is tracking the movements of Russian tycoons. Sweeny revealed that he had several requests for tracking aircraft of the country’s oligarchs following Russia’s invasion. “Before this, I didn’t even know there were these influential oligarchs like this. They probably do have a decent amount of power from what I can understand. The aircrafts these oligarchs have been crazy. Their planes are huge compared to other jets,” said Sweeney.
“People have been asking me about Putin for a while, they wanted to know if they could track him. It’s just been crazy. I just figured some people would be interested in it. I just didn’t think all kinds of people would be,” added the teen. He has also set up another account called Russian VIP and Putin Jets for tracking Putin and other VIPs. However, due to the limited flight data availability in Russia, he is not sure about its accuracy.
