Texas school shooting victims: 10-year-old sweethearts who texted 'I love you' to each other buried side by side

Annabell Guadalupe Rodriguez and Xavier James Lopez, classmates, sweethearts, and victims of the recent Texas school shooting will be buried next to each other.

Sweethearts to be buried side-by-side

Annabell Guadalupe Rodriguez and Xavier James Lopez were 10 years old at the time of the unfortunate tragedy. They were among the 19 children killed in the school shooting last month.

As per an ABC News report, the two were in fourth grade and became friends quickly. Their parents were amused to find that the ten-year-olds had taken to texting each other ‘I love you ‘ before bedtime.

“He would make things for her and write notes for her. It brings a smile to your face just to think that they really loved each other,” said Arnulfo Reyes. Reyes is the kids’ class teacher who was injured in the shooting.

“She had a big old crush on him. Felicha and I would laugh, like, ‘How do y’all know about love?” stated Monica Gallegos, Annabell’s mother.

She and Xavier’s mother, Felicha Martinez found their relationship amusing. Hence, owing to their deep connection, the mothers decided to bury the two sweethearts next to each other.

They will be buried this week at Uvalde’s Hillcrest Cemetery.

On May 24th, the morning of the shooting, Annabell and Xavier posed for a picture at the school awards ceremony. Xavier had also joined Annabell in the school’s honor roll.
