Fact Check: Viral Photo of Trump Appearing To Kiss Brigitte Macron is AI-Generated

A viral image circulating on social media appears to show US President Donald Trump leaning in to kiss French First Lady Brigitte Macron outside the Palace of Versailles, with Brigitte seemingly pushing him away.

The image has sparked widespread discussion online, with many users questioning whether it captures a genuine moment or is the product of artificial intelligence.

A closer look shows the photo is AI-generated, although it appears to be based on a real interaction between Trump and Brigitte Macron following a state dinner at Versailles.

Is the viral Trump-Brigitte Macron photo real?

No.

The viral image is not an authentic photograph. It was created or manipulated using artificial intelligence and does not accurately depict what happened outside the Palace of Versailles.

Although the image borrows elements from a real event, it exaggerates the interaction by portraying Trump attempting an unwanted second kiss, something that cannot be concluded from the available video footage.

What actually happened at Versailles?

The incident occurred after a dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Macron at the Palace of Versailles on June 17, following the G7 Summit.

As Trump prepared to leave:

  • He greeted Emmanuel Macron with a brief embrace.
  • He exchanged the customary French cheek-kiss greeting with Brigitte Macron.
  • Trump then briefly placed a hand on Brigitte Macron’s shoulder and appeared to lean slightly forward.
  • Brigitte stepped back, and Trump turned toward his motorcade.

The video does not show the moment depicted in the viral image.

What proves the image is AI-generated?

Several details indicate the picture is not authentic.

Brigitte Macron’s clothing doesn’t match

One of the clearest clues is her outfit.

In verified photos and videos from the event, Brigitte Macron wore a black dress with white detailing around the neckline.

In the viral image, however, the dress features white sleeves, which do not appear in the genuine footage.

The facial expressions appear unnatural

The image also contains exaggerated facial expressions and body positioning commonly seen in AI-generated images designed to create dramatic or humorous scenarios.

These inconsistencies are absent from verified photographs and video recordings of the event.

Why is the image circulating?

The manipulated image appears to be a satirical or misleading edit inspired by the real greeting between Trump and Brigitte Macron.

As AI image-generation tools become more sophisticated, fabricated images based on genuine events are increasingly being shared online without context, making visual verification more important than ever.

Why Versailles became the focus

Trump visited the Palace of Versailles after the G7 Summit at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.

The palace also served as the venue where the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran was signed remotely, drawing attention because of Versailles’ historical association with the 1919 Treaty of Versailles.

The greeting between Trump and Brigitte Macron occurred as he departed the palace after the official dinner.

The bigger picture

The viral image is another example of how AI-generated content can blur the line between reality and fiction.

While it is inspired by a real interaction, the specific moment shown in the image never occurred. As AI-generated visuals become increasingly convincing, verifying images against authentic photos and videos remains essential before accepting or sharing them as fact.

TL;DR

  • A viral image appears to show Donald Trump attempting to kiss Brigitte Macron.
  • The image is AI-generated, not an authentic photograph.
  • It is based on a real greeting that took place at the Palace of Versailles on June 17, 2026.
  • Video footage shows Trump and Brigitte Macron exchanging a customary cheek kiss before she steps back.
  • Visual inconsistencies in the viral image confirm it is not genuine.
