The Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) is asking for the public’s help in locating Stephen Thomas Marek, a 32-year-old man who has been missing from northwest Bakersfield, California, since August 23.
Marek, who has autism, is considered a high-risk missing person, according to KCSO and local outlet KGET. He was last seen leaving his home on foot near Blue Tail Lane and Quail Creek Road.

- Height: 6 feet, 3 inches
- Weight: 158 pounds
- Hair: Dark blonde
- Eyes: Green
- Clothing last seen in: Light-colored long sleeve shirt and gray pants
Family and community make emotional pleas
Relatives and community members have been using social media to spread the word and keep Marek’s case in public view.
Sarah Canton, Marek’s cousin, urged people on Facebook to keep sharing his photo and details:
“Please like and share, every ounce of engagement is valuable and helps to keep this story in the news and on feeds! My cousin needs your help!”
Her post was amplified by Andrew Smith, the brother of professional wrestler Syko Stu (real name Stuart Smith). Stu himself has been in headlines recently after being hospitalized following an attack involving Raja Jackson, son of UFC fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
Another cousin, Daniel Olewiler, also appealed to Bakersfield residents:
“Bakersfield friends, please share. My cousin with autism went missing last night, 8/23/25. Last seen in NW Bakersfield on Quail Creek Road, wearing grey pants and light colored long sleeve shirt.”
