Trump Warns “Whole Civilisation Will Die Tonight” as Iran Prepares Human Shields at Power Plants

As tensions between the United States and Iran reach a boiling point over the Strait of Hormuz, US President Donald Trump has issued a severe ultimatum, warning that a “whole civilization will die” if Iran fails to comply with American demands by an 8:00 PM ET deadline. In fierce defiance, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that 14 million Iranians stand ready to sacrifice their lives to defend their nation.

Here is a breakdown of the rapidly escalating crisis and what both leaders are saying as the clock ticks down.

Trump’s 8 PM Ultimatum: “Complete Demolition”

The crisis intensified on Tuesday following a series of stark warnings from President Trump on his Truth Social platform. The core of the conflict centers on the US demand for Iran to immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Failure to comply by 8:00 PM ET, Trump warned, will result in a massive, simultaneous bombing campaign targeting every electric generating plant and bridge in Iran.

“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” Trump wrote. “WHO KNOWS?”

During a subsequent White House press briefing, the president doubled down on the severity of the planned four-hour tactical strike window, stating, “The entire country could be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night.” He noted that the planned devastation would leave Iranian facilities “burning, exploding, and never to be used again,” potentially setting the nation’s infrastructure back a century.

However, Trump did leave a narrow diplomatic window open, claiming the US has already achieved “Complete and Total Regime Change” in Iran. He suggested that if “different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen.”

Iran’s Response: “14 Million Ready to Sacrifice”

Iran has responded to the threats with uncompromising rhetoric and unprecedented civilian mobilization.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian took to X (formerly Twitter) to declare the nation’s steadfast resolve. “Over 14 million proud Iranians have, up to this moment, declared their readiness to sacrifice their lives in defense of Iran,” Pezeshkian wrote. “I, too, have been, am, and will be a sacrificer for Iran.”

Human Chains to Defend Infrastructure

In a dramatic move to deter the threatened US airstrikes, Iranian officials are organizing civilian human shields at critical infrastructure sites.

Alireza Rahimi, Iran’s Deputy Sports Minister, released a video message urging the nation’s youth, athletes, artists, students, and faculty to form “human chains” around the country’s power plants. Rahimi called for citizens to gather at these facilities at 2:00 PM local time on Tuesday.

“These are our wealth and belongings,” Rahimi stated, framing the human shields as both a symbolic and physical defense against the impending US deadline.

Note to Readers: This is a developing story. As the 8:00 PM ET deadline approaches, the international community watches closely to see if a last-minute diplomatic breakthrough can avert a catastrophic military clash in the Middle East.
