Ukraine resumes e-visa services for 45 countries, including India

Online visa applications now open for tourism, business, education, and more

Ukraine has reinstated its e-visa services for citizens of 45 countries, including India, Bhutan, Maldives, and Nepal. Starting from February 19, 2025, the General Department for Consular Services will process e-visa applications for various purposes, such as tourism, business, education, sports, cultural and scientific activities, journalism, and medical treatment.

Visa categories and processing time

The Ukrainian embassy has outlined two types of e-visas:

  • Single-entry visa – $20
  • Double-entry visa – $30

For applicants requiring urgent processing, an additional fee applies, doubling the standard cost. While regular applications take three working days, urgent requests are expedited within a single day.

The resumption of e-visa services is part of Ukraine’s broader strategy to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties with key countries, including India. Over the years, India and Ukraine have collaborated in various sectors, including trade, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, defense, education, and culture.

Cultural and academic exchanges

The partnership between the two nations extends to education, with institutions like Taras Shevchenko National University and Kyiv Linguistic University offering Hindi language courses. Additionally, organizations such as the Ukrainian Association of Ayurveda and Yoga promote traditional Indian medicine and yoga through international congresses and workshops.

Symbolic gesture of friendship

In a testament to the growing cultural ties, a statue of Mahatma Gandhi was unveiled in Kyiv in October 2020 to commemorate his 150th birth anniversary. Situated in the Oasis of Peace botanical garden, the statue symbolizes Gandhi’s principles of peace and non-violence, reinforcing the deep-rooted connection between India and Ukraine.

This move to restore e-visas is expected to boost travel and collaboration between the two nations, facilitating easier entry for Indian travelers and fostering stronger bilateral relations.
