Drunk passenger forces easy Jet flight to make emergency landing
Passengers aboard a British airline experienced a terrifying ordeal mid-air when a drunk passenger attempted to enter the cockpit during an easyJet flight en route to Kos, Greece. The flight had to make an emergency landing on Tuesday after chaos erupted at 30,000 feet.
Passenger tries to enter cockpit and break the exit door
The intoxicated passenger reportedly fought with the crew, broke the in-flight intercom, and attempted to open an exit door, allegedly in an effort to “get off mid-air.” Fortunately, the crew and fellow passengers managed to restrain him before he could enter the cockpit or open the doors. Upon landing, the man was arrested, with photos showing him lying on the tarmac at the foot of the aircraft.
Incident unfolds after turbulence on Airbus A320
The disturbance occurred after the Airbus A320 experienced turbulence, during which the drunk man started fighting with the crew, calling the pilot “rubbish” and attempting to take control of the aircraft. Horrified passengers watched as the man caused a commotion, but the crew successfully subdued him, pinning him to the floor. The flight was then diverted to Munich, Germany, where emergency personnel and police arrested the passenger upon arrival.
Social media reaction and passenger frustration
Videos shared on social media captured the moment the unruly passenger was removed from the plane, with other passengers jeering and one shouting, “Get off, you loser.” Some passengers expressed outrage over how the visibly intoxicated man was allowed to board and continue drinking during the flight. One passenger told The Sun, “The man was so drunk, and there was rising anger at how he was allowed to board the plane so clearly sozzled, let alone continue drinking.”
Following the incident, frustrated holidaymakers were forced to spend the night in local hotels in Munich while waiting for a connecting flight to Greece. easyJet later issued a statement saying, “While such incidents are rare, we do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour.”
