West Virginia: Watch- Uber driver fatally shot by 81-year-old scam victim

A frightening video has emerged showing an elderly guy from West Virginia who fell victim to a telephone scam, brandishing a gun at an innocent Uber driver and allegedly killing her.

According to WKEF, the newly released dashcam footage from 61-year-old driver Loletha Hall’s car shows 81-year-old William Brock from South Charleston approaching her with a revolver at 11:20 a.m. on March 25.

When Hall attempted to enter her vehicle and go, Brock allegedly fought with her and fatally shot her.

According to the news outlet, the individual was the victim of a phone scam in which a jailed relative threatened him and his family and demanded money.

According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the driver had also received communication from the same person or an accomplice, asking her to retrieve a box from Brock’s apartment via the Uber app.

As she arrived, Brock allegedly demanded that the unarmed woman reveal the identity of the person who had contacted her and confiscated her phone, preventing her from leaving.

“Give me that phone!” he can be heard demanding in the disturbing footage.

“Stop! “Stop, or I’ll call 911!” Hall yells back at Brock.

According to the police, Brock shot the victim three times before calling 911. Brock reportedly informed the operator that he shot someone who attempted to rob him.

First responders took Hall to Miami Valley Hospital, where she died during surgery.

“Hall, who was dealing with medical issues and was not armed, did not make any threats or attacks against Brock. She also did not issue any demands, aside from inquiring about the package she had been directed to collect through the Uber App,” the sheriff’s office spokesperson told TV channel WHIO in a statement.

“As Hall did not pose an active threat at any point during the incident, and Brock did not seek assistance from authorities despite wielding a firearm and firing multiple shots at Hall, resulting in her injury, he was arrested and charged with murder,” the report said.

Brock is being held on a $200,000 bond after pleading not guilty last week in Clark County Municipal Court.
