Who is Alki David? Coca-Cola heir ordered to pay $900 million in historic sexual assault case

Alki David, an heir to the Coca-Cola fortune and a celebrity hologram creator with multiple sexual assault convictions, has been ordered by a Los Angeles jury to pay $900 million to a former employee. This verdict is reportedly the largest-ever award for sexual damages in history.

Jane Doe, the pseudonym for the woman in the case against Alkiviades “Alki” David, accused him of sexually assaulting and harassing her over three years from 2016 to 2019, according to her attorney.

“It’s so despicable, the facts of this case. He raped my client while on trial in another case,” Doe’s lawyer Gary Dordick stated, LA Times reported.

In 2019, David was warned not to even think about assaulting another woman after Mahim Khan, a former production assistant, won a $58 million verdict against him for sexual violence.

He has been found guilty in multiple other cases involving sexual misconduct, resulting in him and his companies being ordered to pay around $70 million in damages.

David’s company, Hologram USA, is known for creating holographic images of deceased celebrities and offering various online streaming services.

Details of Jane Doe’s case

Jane Doe, the plaintiff, is a thirty-year-old model who worked for David at Hologram USA and recognized him as a “media mogul and billionaire” when she was hired.

She expressed concerns about David’s behavior at the office from the start of her employment. According to the lawsuit, a female coworker informed Doe that Alki David had kissed her without consent. Additionally, the plaintiff claimed that during a 2016 business trip to his private island in Greece, David attempted to kiss her, which she refused, and he later apologized.

The complaint states that she was fired later that year and did not have contact with David until 2018. Afterward, David offered her a job as a brand ambassador for Swiss-X, his cannabis production company.

According to the lawsuit, after accepting the job, David gave the woman a tour of his hotel room and provided her with what he claimed was a CBD product. When the woman began to feel disoriented and intoxicated, David masturbated and made her touch his penis, as per the lawsuit.

The woman also claimed that in April 2019, he sexually assaulted her in a small room during a business meeting.

David’s current wealth, estimated at $3.7 billion, largely comes from his affluent Cypriot family, according to the Sunday Times annual Rich List. However, David has claimed that media estimates of his wealth are significantly exaggerated.

Judge Christopher L. Lui’s ruling on Monday includes $800 million in punitive damages and $100 million in compensatory damages.
