What began as a rescue turned into a viral sensation
Bangkok, Thailand — A routine act of kindness by Bangkok police took an unexpectedly comical turn when a rescued American Shorthair cat bit several officers, leading to a mock arrest, complete with mugshots and a “criminal record.”
From lost cat to police detainee
The drama began on May 9 when a good samaritan brought a seemingly lost cat to a local police station in Bangkok. The feline, later identified as Nub Tang, meaning “counting money” in Thai, was wearing a pink harness and was assumed to be a beloved pet. Officer Da Parinda Pakeesuk, who shared the story on social media, said the police warmly welcomed the animal and arranged food and toys to make the furry guest feel at home.
But instead of showing gratitude, Nub Tang turned feisty.
Claws out: Assault in the precinct
According to Officer Pakeesuk, the cat quickly became aggressive, scratching and biting multiple officers. The incident, although startling at first, soon became the source of humor and affection at the station.
“This cat has been charged with assaulting police officers and is about to be detained. Please share this post so her owner can come and bail her out,” Pakeesuk wrote in a viral Facebook post, accompanied by a photo of Nub Tang sitting innocently in his car.
To further the lighthearted tone, the officers created a mock mugshot and even took paw print records as part of her “arrest.” The final image showed Nub Tang lying nonchalantly next to her fabricated criminal evidence.
Viral sensation with a purr-fect twist
“She is living her best life, while the police are the true victims,” Pakeesuk wrote in another post, which only added fuel to the internet’s growing affection for the mischievous feline. Comments poured in from people offering to adopt Nub Tang, though Pakeesuk emphasized the department’s main priority was reuniting the cat with her rightful owner.
Fortunately, the owner arrived at the station the following day, bringing a humorous close to the bizarre tale. To commemorate the reunion, Pakeesuk penned a fictitious police report from the cat’s perspective: “I was just hungry. I didn’t mean to bite anyone.”
Case closed—with a claw-some warning
Before handing over the feline, Pakeesuk included one last cheeky message: “This case must be handled properly. We cannot have other cats thinking that biting people is acceptable.”
While no real charges were filed, Nub Tang’s brief stint behind bars left a lasting impression — and a trail of laughs — among police, her owner, and an internet full of adoring fans.
