More than 500 children aged 3 to 6 put together a giant jigsaw puzzle on Monday, Nov. 2. They attend Rajagiri Kindergarten in Kalamassery, Kerala. The school calls the event an Asia Book of Records attempt.
The puzzle measures 5 metres by 3 metres, about 16 by 10 feet. Each child added one piece, the school says. The assembly opened the kindergarten’s 30th Kids Fest, which takes place on Nov. 14.
What the children built
The finished picture shows a boy holding a puzzle piece marked “Rights”. Four more pieces around him read Health, Play, Education and Safety. The line across the bottom gives the event’s theme: “Every Piece Matters, Every Child Matters.”
The school compares the puzzle to its view of children. A puzzle needs every piece, it says, and every child matters in the same way. The school also used the event to highlight children’s rights: safety, schooling and the chance to learn, play and grow.
The record attempt
Rajagiri Kindergarten describes the assembly as an attempt at the Asia Book of Records. The school hasn’t said which record category it entered or when it expects a result. BreezyScroll has not seen a confirmation from the Asia Book of Records.
Kids Fest turns 30
Kids Fest is the kindergarten’s annual festival, where children perform and show their talents. This year brings its 30th edition. The main celebration falls on Nov. 14, Children’s Day in India.
The school says the festival centres on learning through play, creativity and all-round development. It calls the giant puzzle a symbol of its commitment to every child.
