Breezy Explainer: All about Microsoft’s new Bing with the powers of ChatGPT

Microsoft announced a new version of its search engine, Bing with the powers of OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Here’s everything you need to know.

All about the new ChatGPT-powered Bing

Microsoft is deploying OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology into Bing, its search engine. AI technology has been taking the news by storm since its launch. However, Google is seeing Microsoft’s new move as a threat to its dominance on search engines. “The race starts today. This technology will reshape pretty much every software category that we know,” stated Satya Nadela. Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft thinks ChatGPT will help in changing the nature of online interactions and searches.

Developed by Microsoft-backed ChatGPT, the technology uses deep learning methods for generating human-like responses to search requests on Bing. Hence, instead of responding with just links to websites, Bing will be responding with detailed answers. However, the number of searches for each persona are limited at the moment.

AI-based search engine race begins

An AI search engine race begins as Google announced the details of Bard, its new AI chatbot. While Bard is still at its initial level, both firms are working towards improving their AI chatbots. As per Dan Ives, Microsoft’s investing in OpenAI is a “massively boost” to the firm. Ives is an analyst at Wedbush Securities. “This is just the first step on the AI front … as [the] AI arms race takes place among Big Tech,” he explained. Microsoft has been an early backer of OpenAI and investing billions into artificial intelligence. Last month, it announced the news of extending its collaboration with the san Francisco-based Ai firm.

According to Microsoft, Bing is going to use the OpenAI tech that is more advanced than ChatGPT. This will also be incorporated into Edge, Microsoft’s web browser. The firm also announced a new premium tier of Microsoft Teams featuring ChatGPT. The application will be helpful in automatically generating notes and meeting highlights.
