Years ago, the Simpsons appear to have foretold the Titanic underwater disaster. Or, at the very least, a portion of it. On Thursday, the Titan submersible’s crew of five was declared dead after running out of oxygen. Rescuers who were participating in search activities after the submarine and its five occupants went missing on Sunday discovered submersible debris. The OceanGate submersible was transporting guests to see the ruins of the Titanic, the largest ship of its time that sank in 1912.
On Wednesday, a Simpsons video went viral, which appears to have foretold the real-life incident years ago. The video is from the 17th season of The Simpsons cartoon series, which debuted in 2006.
Homer Simpson embarks on an adventure with a man he believes to be his biological father in the season’s tenth episode, titled Simpsons Tids. Homer is initially taken to the man’s ship, and they eventually embark on a journey to the depths of the ocean in a submersible in search of lost wealth in the ‘Piso Mojado.’
During one of their excursions, however, Homer’s submersible becomes caught in a coral tunnel, and he begins to lose consciousness as oxygen levels in his vessel decrease. Quite close to what happened on the missing Titan submarine. The similarities end there, as Homer eventually wakes up in a hospital three days later in The Simpsons.

Simpsons: Submarine incident adds to the list of uncanny predictions
The five tourists were unable to be rescued from the submersible in time. Several people on social media pointed out the uncanny similarities between the show and the true story.
“Crazy how the Simpsons already predicted the missing submarine,” tweeted one user. “Idk what surprises y’all of the lost submarine in the Atlantic that went down to see the remains of the Titanic. The Simpsons had already warned us,” wrote added.
This isn’t the first time the popular show has anticipated real-life events years in advance. In February of last year, just before Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, a clip from an episode of The Simpsons from 1998 went viral, predicting the Soviet Union’s return and a new Cold War. Among other things, the series predicted Donald Trump winning the presidential election, the United States winning an Olympic medal, and the coronavirus epidemic.
