Australian conservationist, actress, and television personality Bindi Irwin is suffering from endometriosis. Read to know more about the painful condition.

What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (known as the endometrium) grows outside of the uterus, typically in the pelvic region. This tissue can grow on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder, bowel, and other areas. During the menstrual cycle, the endometrial tissue grows and then sheds, causing bleeding during menstruation. In this condition, the tissue outside of the uterus also responds to hormonal changes, leading to inflammation, scarring, and pain. Symptoms of endometriosis can include pelvic pain, painful periods, pain during sex, infertility, and digestive issues. (https://nelsonjsalon.com) The severity of symptoms can vary widely, and some women may have no symptoms at all.

Bindi Irwin revealed she is suffering from this painful condition

Bindi Irwin, the daughter of the late Steve Irwin, a well-known TV personality and wildlife expert is also a conservationist, actress, and television personality. Following the footsteps of her father, the host of The Crocodile Hunter, she hosted Bindi the Jungle Girls from 2007 to 2008. She took to Instagram to share that she suffered from endometriosis. She shared a picture of herself lying on the hospital bed. Despite her initial struggle in sharing her journey with the public, she concluded that she was shouldering the responsibility to share it with women who need help.

“For 10yrs I’ve struggled with insurmountable fatigue, pain & nausea. Trying to remain a positive person & hide the pain has been a very long road. These last 10yrs have included many tests, doctor visits, scans, etc,” wrote Bindi. She added that millions were struggling with the disease and the stigma surrounding the “awful” disease. “I’m aware of millions of women struggling with a similar story. There’s a stigma around this awful disease. I’m sharing my story for anyone who reads this & is quietly dealing with pain & no answers. Let this be your validation that your pain is real & you deserve help. Keep searching for answers,” she added.
