Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are engaged. Lopez revealed the news in a brief video posted to her fan newsletter, On The JLo, in which she adoringly gaze at a green-hued diamond ring. “You’re perfect,” Lopez says in a voiceover as romantic music plays. Lopez and Affleck fuelled engagement speculations earlier this week. While shopping with her teenage daughter, she was pictured wearing a wedding ring on her finger.
Jennifer hinted about the big announcement on Twitter by not just posting the video but also adding the ring emoji to her Twitter username. “So I have a really exciting and special story to share…” Lopez tweeted.

Ben and Jennifer have a history of dating. Almost a decade ago the duo was engaged, however, the wedding was called off in 2004 owing to excessive media attention. By June of that year, she was married to singer Marc Anthony. In 2008, the couple welcomed twins Max and Emme into the world. Meanwhile, Affleck had moved on with Jennifer Garner. In 2005, he married the actress and they have three children together: Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel.
Lopez recently revealed to PEOPLE what makes their relationship different now than it was 18 years ago. She said, “We’re older now, we’re smarter, we have more experience, we’re at different places in our lives. We have kids now, and we have to be very conscious of those things”.
She further added, “It’s a beautiful outcome that this has happened in this way at this time in our lives where we can really appreciate and celebrate each other and respect each other. We always did, but we have even more of an appreciation because we know that life can take you in different directions.”
In July, Jennifer Lopez and Affleck appeared to confirm their relationship by posting a selfie of herself and Affleck while celebrating her 52nd birthday on Instagram. Since then, they’ve been inseparable.
