Former contestant claims inappropriate requests were made

In a controversy that has shaken the Miss World pageant, former Miss England contestant Milla Magee has alleged that participants were asked to socialize with middle-aged men as a gesture of appreciation for their financial backing of the event. British tabloid The Sun quoted Magee as saying, “Tipping point came when they (contestants) were allegedly asked to socialize with middle-aged men as a gesture of appreciation for their financial contributions to the event.”

The remarks have sparked widespread media attention, prompting an immediate response from the Miss World Organisation, which has firmly denied the allegations.

Miss World Organisation responds to claims

Julia Morley, chairperson and CEO of the Miss World Organization, categorically rejected the accusations, describing them as “completely unfounded and inconsistent” with the actual events.

In a formal statement, the organization provided clarity on Magee’s departure, attributing it to a personal family emergency rather than any alleged misconduct. “Earlier this month, Milla Magee requested to leave the competition due to a reported family emergency involving her mother’s health,” the statement read. “As a mother and grandmother herself, Julia Morley CBE, chairwoman of Miss World, responded to Milla’s situation with compassion and immediately arranged her return to England, placing the well-being of the contestant and her family first.”

Unedited footage released to counter allegations

In an effort to challenge the narrative presented by Magee and The Sun, the Miss World Organization released unedited video footage from Magee’s time in India. The videos reportedly depict the contestant expressing happiness and gratitude for her experience, contradicting the negative portrayal circulating in the media.

“Unfortunately, it has come to our attention that certain UK media outlets have published false and defamatory statements, allegedly made by Milla Magee, regarding her experience in India,” the organization stated. “These claims are completely unfounded and inconsistent with the reality of her time with us.”

England’s representation in Miss World continues

Following Magee’s departure, Charlotte Grant, the first runner-up in the Miss England competition, has officially assumed the role of England’s representative at the Miss World pageant. The organization affirmed that Grant was “warmly welcomed into the Miss World sisterhood” and would continue to participate in the global competition.

Pageant organisation reaffirms its core values

In the wake of the controversy, the Miss World Organization reiterated its unwavering commitment to its guiding principles of “Beauty with a Purpose,” emphasizing the importance of dignity, integrity, and truth.

“We urge media outlets to uphold journalistic integrity and verify their sources before publishing misleading content,” the statement concluded.

Telangana official reacts to harassment allegations

Adding a political dimension to the controversy, Telangana minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao took to social media to express his dismay over the allegations. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he extended support to Magee.

“You are a very strong woman, Milla Magee, and I am truly sorry you had to go through this in our state of Telangana. It has a rich culture of respecting women. Unfortunately, what you experienced doesn’t represent the real Telangana,” he wrote.

Rao further demanded accountability and transparency, stating, “I hope you do feel better soon. As a father of a girl child, I wish no woman or girl ever has to go through such horrific experiences. Also, I strongly condemn the attitude of victim gaslighting and demand a thorough investigation into the allegations made by Miss England Milla Magee.”

The incident has triggered a broader conversation around contestant welfare, event accountability, and media responsibility as the pageant world faces renewed scrutiny.
