We knew it all along, but People magazine has now confirmed it. People magazine has chosen actor Patrick Dempsey as the sexiest man alive’ for 2023. Dempsey succeeds 2022 recipient and Marvel star Chris Evans in the title. Dempsey is most recognized for his roles as heartthrob physician Derek ‘McDreamy’ Shepherd in Grey’s Anatomy and modern-day Prince Charming in Enchanted.
“It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive,” Dempsey told People for the cover story.
Patrick Dempsey, 57, married to makeup artist and beauty brand founder Jillian, is most concerned with how his daughters, Talula, 21, and twins Sullivan and Darby, 16, will react to his new status.
“They’re just going to make fun of me, pick on me, and figure out every reason why I shouldn’t be,” he said. “Which is good; they keep me young.”
Patrick Dempsey will appear in Michael Mann’s biopic Ferrari in December, playing Italian Formula One driver Piero Taruffi alongside Adam Driver and Penelope Cruz.
When Dempsey learned the film was in the works, he took a chance and called Mann to ask for a part.
“I’d been following the movie for years, so I called Michael,” he said. “That taught me if you really want something, you have to do it yourself.”
