Incident began with a fan photo request outside a grocery store
Cuban rapper Chocolate MC, born Yosvanis Sierra-Hernandez, has been arrested in Florida on serious charges including kidnapping with a firearm, armed robbery, and issuing threats to kill or injure. The arrest follows a harrowing incident involving a fan who simply approached the artist for a photo.
According to an arrest report and law enforcement officials, the encounter turned violent when Sierra-Hernandez allegedly brandished a firearm and forced the fan into a prolonged and threatening ordeal across multiple locations in Opa-locka, a city in Miami-Dade County.
Victim allegedly forced to drive at gunpoint for hours
The incident unfolded outside a local grocery store where the fan initially asked for a picture. Instead of obliging, Chocolate MC allegedly lured the victim to a parking lot, pressed a gun to his chest, and demanded his vehicle. The rapper then ordered the man into the driver’s seat and directed him to several destinations over a span of approximately two hours.
“Yosvanis Sierra demanded cash from the victim, the victim showed him his wallet, which was empty and had no cash. Yosvanis Sierra demanded that the victim send him money via Zell (sic) and give his phone number to the victim to do so. The victim stated he did not have Zell (sic) and was unable to do the transaction,” the arrest report states.
Surveillance footage supports victim’s claims
Authorities confirmed that surveillance footage from the grocery store corroborated the victim’s version of events. The footage reportedly shows Sierra-Hernandez with a weapon, supporting the claim that the incident was not a misunderstanding or isolated moment of aggression.
After the incident, the victim was released unharmed near 270 SW 11th Avenue, but not before enduring what officials described as an extended and coercive attempt to extract money and information.
A regional alert was circulated to assist in the search for Sierra-Hernandez. He was located shortly afterward and arrested while allegedly in possession of a grey and black firearm.
A history of disturbing legal troubles
This is not the first time Chocolate MC has found himself facing serious criminal charges. In May 2024, he was accused of kidnapping and raping his ex-girlfriend, reportedly transporting her from Miami-Dade to Palm Beach County. In a separate case, he was also linked to a murder-for-hire plot, in which he allegedly offered payment via social media to have an inmate harmed. The inmate was reportedly connected to the killing of fellow Cuban artist El Taiger.
Facing multiple felony charges
As of Thursday, Sierra-Hernandez remains in custody, with authorities confirming he faces charges that include:
- Kidnapping with a firearm
- Armed robbery
- Written threats to kill or injure
Local law enforcement has yet to release further details regarding potential court appearances or bail proceedings.
The rapper’s arrest underscores growing concern over his repeated entanglement with the law and raises new questions about the intersection of celebrity, accountability, and violent behavior.
