After spending nearly 10 months at sea, thousands of sailors and Marines from the USS Abraham Lincoln have finally reached solid ground in Thailand.
The aircraft carrier arrived at Laem Chabang port on September 2 after a 286-day deployment, including more than 200 days supporting US military operations in the Middle East. Around 5,000 service members are expected to spend their shore leave in and around Pattaya before the carrier group begins its journey back to California.
But despite Pattaya’s famous nightlife reputation, many sailors appeared more interested in shopping, eating and simply enjoying being on land again.
