Tory Lanez was temporarily behind the bars on Tuesday after a judge found him in violation of a protective order in a felony assault case. He was guilty of shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the feet. Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson. He was arrested and handcuffed in a Los Angeles courthouse. After posting bail, he was freed a few hours later.

Superior Court Judge David Herriford determined that Peterson had broken instructions not to contact or harass Megan and not to share information with third parties during the case. While Peterson did not contact Megan directly, Herriford claimed that several of his tweets appeared to be unambiguous messages to her, and he told Peterson not to reference her on social media.

The judge raised the bond amount for Tory Lanez from $250,000 to $350,000

Peterson’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, said in court that he did not supply information to a Twitter user to post in favor of Peterson. In her argument, Holley said the tweet, now deleted, was not entirely accurate. She said that an investigation showed there were four DNA contributors on the handgun. Thus, making it inconclusive about Peterson’s DNA. She said his DNA was not found to be on the gun’s magazine.

“We are pleased that the Court rejected those outrageous requests,” Holly said in an email after the hearing. The judge raised Peterson’s bond from $250,000 to $350,000 following his arrest in 2020. Peterson was to return for a June hearing after a trial date in September. He has entered a plea of not guilty to the charges.

After a party on July 12, 2020, Peterson, Megan, and others were in an SUV in the Hollywood Hills. Authorities said he shot her in the feet after she had fled following an argument. However, after months of conjecture and media coverage, Peterson was guilty of felony assault in October 2020. A judge decided in December of last year that there was enough evidence to put him on trial. Tory Lanez made his debut in 2009. He has had a successful run of mixtapes and major-label albums, with his past two albums charting in the top ten on Billboard.
