The Godfather's 50th Anniversary trailer reveals theatrical and 4K release

The Godfather’s 50th-anniversary trailer reveals the restored version of the classic film and trilogy’s theatrical re-release and 4K debut. The Godfather, directed by Francis Ford Coppola released in 1972. It is frequently referred to as the “greatest film of all time.” Appearing on numerous best-of lists for fans and critics alike.

Casting the stars like Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, and others, the film is 3 times Oscars winner including Best Picture and Best Actor (for Brando). The trilogy is solidified in Mario Puzo’s books. Which follows the Corleone scandal family’s inheritance from Italy to New York City over decades of struggle. The Godfather: Part II, released in 1974, was even more critically applauded than the first. With many critics proclaiming it as the best of the trilogy, winning six Academy Awards. This includes Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor (for Robert De Niro).

The Godfather trilogy will be releasing on 4K Ultra HD and digital on March 22

The Godfather: Part III was out much later, in 1990. And was not as well-received as the earlier two films. Coppola recently disclosed a director’s cut of the third film. The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone, which even has a new title. Now, in honor of The Godfather’s 50th anniversary, Paramount Movies has released a trailer. Declaring that the film will be re-released in select Dolby Cinema and AMC theatres on February 24 in a fully restored format. Furthermore, on March 22, the whole trilogy will be released in 4K for the first time. Though only The Godfather: Part III’s new director’s cut will be in the set. According to Variety, the improvement took 1,000 hours to finish, incorporating color modification and mono track rehabilitation.

Over 300 cartons of the film were examined to find the most promising possible resolution for each film. It took 4,000 hours to rebuild tints and tears. Coppola was in charge of the improvement, which took more than three years. The Godfather’s legacy will survive not only in restored versions and theatrical re-releases but also in Paramount+’s new series. It will premiere on their streaming site in April. And tell the never-before-told story of the making. The Godfather trilogy will premiere on 4K Ultra HD and digital on March 22 for those who can’t make it to the theatre to see the full film with recorrections.
