Amy Schumer, America’s most popular comedian, revealed that she has Cushing syndrome. The alarming news was announced in the most recent edition of Jessica Yellen’s News Not Noise.
The Trainwreck actress revealed her condition after fans noticed her puffier face during the Life & Beth season 2 promo tour.
During the promotion of her show, the I Feel Pretty actress noticed changes in herself and learned about her medical condition. However, Schumer has been getting treatment and shares that she now feels “reborn”
What is Cushing syndrome?
The syndrome that the Snatched actress is suffering from is a condition that occurs when the body produces an excessive amount of Cortisol hormone and stores it for an extended period inside the body. Cortisol is primarily recognized as the stress hormone.
The above-mentioned hormone helps your body respond to stress. Cortisol also helps to regulate blood pressure.
What are the symptoms of Cushing syndrome?
According to the Mayo Clinic, Cushing syndrome symptoms can include a fat hump between the shoulders and a round face, as well as pink or purple stretch marks on the skin.
The medical condition can sometimes cause bone loss and high blood pressure. In rare cases, the syndrome can lead to type 2 diabetes.

Schumer handled the stress while also managing her professional life. The Thank You for Your Service actress opened up about her feelings, saying, “While I was doing press for my Hulu show, I was also in MRI machines for four hours at a time, having my veins shut down from the amount of blood drawn and worrying that I might not be around to see my son grow up.” So learning that I have the type of Cushing’s disease that will simply resolve itself and leave me healthy was the best news I could have received.”
Amy Schumer strongly asserted that “having the internet chime in” about her appearance prompted her to see a doctor and learn more about her health.
Thanking those who noticed her puffier face, the standup comedian stated, “It’s been a crazy couple of weeks for me and my family. Aside from concerns about my health, I had to appear on camera with the internet chiming in. Thank God for that. Because that’s how I knew something was wrong.”
