After weeks of anticipation, People magazine has announced actor-filmmaker John Krasinski as the Sexiest Man Alive for 2024. Krasinski, known for his charming roles and his celebrated film career, was taken by surprise when he heard the news.
“Immediate blackout,” says Krasinski
The 45-year-old actor, who rose to fame as Jim Halpert in The Office, shared his candid reaction with People magazine: “Just immediate blackout, actually. Zero thoughts,” he admitted. He jokingly added, “Other than maybe I’m being punked. That’s not how I wake up, thinking, ‘Is this the day I’ll be asked to be the Sexiest Man Alive?’ And yet, it was the day you guys did it. You guys have really raised the bar for me.”
A family man at heart
Krasinski may be a Hollywood star, but he considers his role as a devoted husband and father to be the most rewarding. He has been married to British actress Emily Blunt for 14 years. The couple shares two daughters, Hazel (10) and Violet (8). Krasinski was eager to break the news to Blunt, who responded with humor.
“There was a lot of joy involved in me telling her,” he said, adding that Blunt joked about covering their home in wallpaper featuring the People magazine cover with his photo. Krasinski praised their marriage, saying, “It’s that beautiful thing where when you’re married to someone, you’re constantly learning and changing and evolving. And I’m so lucky to go through all that with her.”
The actor lightheartedly speculated on how the title might impact his daily life, quipping, “I think it’s going to make me do more household chores.”
