All about Water World, an exoplanet with a deeper ocean than Earth

The search for alien life is a cult favorite for commoners and scientists. Astronomers found a new ‘water world’ exoplanet with oceans deeper than our planet’s.

All about the ‘water world’ exoplanet

An exoplanet present 100 light years away from Earth, designated as TOI-1452 b is also known as a water world. It is located in the ‘Goldilocks Zone’ of its star system. The planet is five times more massive and 70 percent larger than ours. Interestingly, the world revolves around two stars, unlike Earth which revolves around the Sun alone.

TOI-1452 b was discovered by a University of Montreal team led by Dr. Charles Cadieux and is reported in the Astronomical Journal. This was possible using NASA’s TESS space telescope and Observatoire du Mont-Megantic (OMM). The space telescope surveys the sky searching for planets that are similar to the Earth. It is on a mission to understand the origin of our universe. (canadianpharmacy365.net) However, as per researchers, it can take some time to observe the other side of this exoplanet.

A signal from TESS revealed a decrease in brightness every 11 days. Based on this note, they were successful in predicting that it is 70 percent larger than ours. “TOI-1452 b is one of the best candidates for an ocean planet that we have found to date. Its radius and mass suggest a much lower density than what one would expect for a planet that is made up of metal and rock, like Earth,” stated Cadieux.

“Our observations with the Webb Telescope will be essential to better understanding TOI-1452 b. As soon as we can, we will book time on the Webb to observe this strange and wonderful world,” stated René Doyon. Doyon is a researcher who works with one of the instruments of the James Webb Space Telescope.
