Chris Paul

Chris Paul’s journey is one of the biggest stories of the postseason. After 16 years of bad luck, one of the best point guards in NBA history finally played his first NBA Finals. He started it with a bang and showed how badly he was waiting for this opportunity.

Chris Paul scored 32 points and nine assists as the Phoenix Suns beat the Milwaukee Bucks 118-105 on Tuesday night. Phoenix guard Devin Booker added 27 points, and center Deandre Ayton scored 22 points and 19 rebounds.

Paul became the fourth player in NBA playoffs history to record a Conference Finals game of 40 points and zero turnovers. He averaged 18.1 points, 8.7 assists, and 1.4 steals in the 14 games he has played.

After scoring 32 points against Milwaukee Buck, Paul became only the third player aged 36 or older to have more than 30 points in a Finals game, joining Hall-of-Famers Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Tim Duncan. He also became the first player since NBA legend Michael Jordan with over 30 points and 8 assists in their Finals debut.

“Every time he shoots it, we think it’s going in. Anybody that counted Chris Paul out. You can’t ever count any guy out that has done the things that he’s done on the court. So if I hear things like that, which I did, I take it as complete nonsense. If he doesn’t play another game for us, you can still pay him his contract. His effect is that big, you know what I’m saying?” Devin Cooper told the media.

Paul has a great overall career, but couldn’t make it to the playoffs before it. He has won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, an NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award, two Olympic gold medals. He had also led the NBA in assists four times and steals a record six times.

Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks will meet on Thursday for Game 2. Antetokounmpo’s return provided hope, and he will be eyeing for a strong comeback whereas Suns will look to continue the same momentum.
