Kevin Durant inks lifetime deal with Nike, third NBA player to get the honor

Kevin Durant has become the third NBA player to sign a lifetime contract with Nike. LeBron James and Michael Jordan are the other NBA players with lifetime contracts with Nike.
The Phoenix Suns player announced the agreement in a post on Boardroom, the publication he co-founded.

“When I first signed with Nike, I couldn’t have dreamed of how far we’d go in this partnership. We’ve done amazing work creatively and philanthropically,” said Durant.

“We’ve done amazing work creatively and philanthropically. We’ve traveled the world together and built a business that will now last forever. I’m excited for the future and honored to be in rare company with this deal,” he added.

As a rookie in the NBA in 2007, Durant initially inked an endorsement agreement with Nike. Since then, his relationship with the business has expanded to include his dedication to philanthropy, which includes grassroots basketball through his Kevin Durant Charity Foundation.

Currently, Durant is participating in the NBA playoffs. He just put on an outstanding performance in game 5 against the Los Angeles Clippers to secure the Suns’ 4-1 series victory. In total, Durant had 31 points, six rebounds, and four assists. The game’s top player, Devin Booker, finished with 47 points, eight rebounds, and 10 assists.

“As one of best basketball players in the world, Kevin Durant has been an important part of the Nike family for the past 16 years,” said John Slusher, Nike’s executive vice president of global sports marketing. “We look forward to continuing to serve the next generation of athletes together.”
