Peloton recalls nearly two million exercise bikes over seat issue

More than 2 million Peloton workout bikes are being recalled because the seat post assembly can break while the bike is in operation, creating a risk for injuries and falls. Approximately 2.2 million Peloton Bikes Model PL01 are included in the recall. From January 2018 through May 2023, the motorcycles were offered for sale for roughly $1,400. They were offered for sale both offline and online through Amazon, Peloton, and Dick’s Sporting Goods locations across the country. The seat post breaking and detaching from the bike during usage has been reported 35 times to Peloton, along with 13 instances of injuries, including fractured wrists, lacerations, and bruising after falling off the bike.

Customers are urged to cease using the recalled exercise bikes right now and get in touch with Peloton for a free repair

Customers are urged to cease using the recalled exercise bikes right now and get in touch with Peloton for a free repair. A free, self-installable seat post is available from Peloton. From 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. ET, seven days a week, the company can be reached at 866-679-9129 or online at www.onepeloton.com. Customers can find out how to get the free seat post and installation instructions by clicking on Product Recalls at the bottom of the Peloton website page. Reorganization of the company Peloton has been ongoing. The corporation made a 500 job layoff announcement in October. The company had previously announced in August that it will eliminate 784 positions, shut down its North American distribution network, and outsource delivery services.

During the height of the coronavirus outbreak, the company had a remarkable sales surge. In the midst of lockdowns that increased demand for its bikes and treadmills among users who pay a monthly fee to partake in its interactive workouts, the New York-based company’s share price increased by more than five times in 2020. But sales began to slow in 2021 as the distribution of vaccines drew many people out of their homes and back into gyms. In early trading on Thursday, shares of Peloton Interactive Inc. (kidsrkids.com) decreased by more than 6%.
