Super Bowl 2025 prize money: How much will winning and losing players receive?

Champions to Receive $171,000 Per Player After Defeating Chiefs

In a commanding performance at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, the Philadelphia Eagles secured their latest Super Bowl triumph with a decisive 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, adding another chapter to their championship legacy while earning significant financial rewards.

Financial breakdown

The victory comes with substantial compensation for the Eagles’ roster, with each eligible player set to receive $171,000 in prize money. Even in defeat, Chiefs players will not leave empty-handed, as each qualifying member will receive $96,000—a considerable consolation prize that helps soften the blow of the loss.

Eligibility requirements

The NFL has established specific criteria for players to receive their full bonus:

  • Participation in a minimum of eight games during the regular season or postseason, regardless of active or inactive roster status
  • Contracted players who sustained injuries during the regular season remain eligible

Eagles’ Super Bowl journey

The Eagles’ path to Super Bowl success has been marked by several milestone moments:

  • Their first Super Bowl victory came in 2018, defeating the New England Patriots 41-33 with Nick Foles at quarterback
  • Prior to that, they faced a tough 24-21 loss to the Patriots in 2005 under Andy Reid’s leadership
  • The team’s Super Bowl appearances began following their 1981 loss to the Oakland Raiders

Performance incentives

Beyond the base prize money, players may qualify for additional compensation based on:

  • Individual Super Bowl performance metrics
  • Specific contract terms and incentive clauses
  • Team-based performance bonuses

This latest victory, led by quarterback Jalen Hurts, not only adds to the Eagles’ legacy but also represents one of the most financially rewarding achievements in the franchise’s history, ending Patrick Mahomes’ impressive winning streak in the process.
