WBBL 07: Revised 2021 Women's Big Bash schedule released

Australia Cricket Board on Thursday announced the full fixture list for the Webers Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL 07). The seventh edition of WBBL begins on Thursday, October 14, when Sydney Sixers take on Melbourne Stars at Hobart’s Blundstone Arena. The ongoing border closures mean that this season games will not take place in New South Wales and Victoria.

The group stage consists of 56 matches which are scheduled to run until November 21, following a three-match knock-out phase. According to the new system, the team that finishes first in the group stage will automatically qualify for the final. The WBBL 07 final is set to take place on Saturday, November 27. Sydney Thunder are the defending WBBL champions. Sydney Sixers are the most successful side in WBBL history, winning two titles and finishing as runners-up twice.

Here’s the full WBBL 07 schedule:

“The WBBL is Australia’s highest-rated sporting league for women and the world’s best cricket league for women. We owe it to our players and loyal fans to deliver a full schedule, and today’s announcement further strengthens this.” BBL general manager Alistair Dobson said

All 59 matches of WBBL will be televised for the first time

For the first time in Women’s Big Bash League history, all 59 matches of WBBL will be televised on Foxtel. In the WBBL 01, only 10 matches were televised, followed by 12 in WBBL season 2 and WBBL 03. Followed by 23 in WBBL season 4, and WBBL 05 and 36 last season. This season, Channel 7 will broadcast 24 matches live, with all 59 games on Foxtel and Kayo.

“To also announce a landmark broadcast footprint is amazing. Fans can now watch every Weber WBBL|07 game on TV, ensuring that our passionate supporters will have access to world-class cricket despite the challenges of the pandemic. The support of Seven and Foxtel to make this happen. Further demonstrates their commitment to the Weber WBBL and the women’s game.” Dobson said

“Once again this season we need to remain nimble and agile to deliver a full Weber WBBL season. We are grateful to our clubs, broadcast partners, players, commercial partners, venues, and governments for their co-operation, understanding, and flexibility as we strive to deliver another fantastic season,” he added
