The long-rumored Apple AirTag is finally here. On Friday, April 23rd, Apple AirTags were available for pre-ordering. They officially launched on April 30th, 2021. They were a part of Apple’s 2021 spring launch. Unlike the existing Bluetooth trackers, AirTag offers better integration and tracking for your precious items. Here are the answers to all your question surrounding this much-awaited device.

What is an AirTag?

This new addition to the Apple ecosystem is small, sleek, and handy! Once set up, you can connect them to your keys, bag, or valuables and track their location using the Find My app. It can also make a sound and help you locate it quickly. Gone are the days of misplacing your keys or wallet. You can personalize them with keychains, holders, or even get engravings of your choice.

How do AirTags work?

AirTags get connected to your iPhone with Bluetooth and U1 chip integration. It lets you locate it using sound, visuals, and directions on the Find my phone app on your phone. When they are outside the Bluetooth range, you can check it’s location.

When lost, you can place them in ‘lost mode’ and make sure others around it are alerted and track the general location of the AirTag.

How long do they last?

AirTag batteries last for a year. They use a replaceable CR2032 battery which is easy to find.

Are Android phones compatible with Apple AirTag?

No, their location-tracking features are only available on Apple iPhones with the U1 chip. All you need to do is make sure you update to iOS 14.5. It will let you track your items using the U1 chip on your iPhone 11 and iPhone 12. However, they are compatible with older iPhones via Bluetooth connectivity. The update allows for improved protection and precise tracking.

However, you can scan an AirTag with an Android phone that features NFC scanning to obtain the owner’s contact information.

Are you worried about your privacy? Worry not!

AirTags don’t endanger your privacy as it works based on end-to-end encryption. So, only you can track its location.

It also has an anti-stalking function which shows the location of unidentified Airtags around you if they are slipped into your pocket or bag to track you.

AirTags will solve your problem of lost keys and misplaced objects in an instant. It is the ultimate companion to your iPhone and provides precise location once enabled. They are safe, completely reliable, and ensure you and your valuable’s protection

Price

The Apple AirTag will cost $29 in the US, or $99 for four in the US.

There are a number of extra accessories available to buy separately, including Parisian fashion brand Hermes accessories.
