Twitter is getting a new verification process: All you need to know

A brand new Twitter verification process is on cards. Twitter is on the way to having a new verification system to make it simple and effective. Jane Manchun Wong shared detailed images of how the new Twitter verification process can appear to be. Although, it is unclear at this point when it will go live. Here is everything you need to know about this

Wong, a reverse engineering specialist, shared the upcoming product features on Twitter. The detailed images show what the new verification system will appear to be. According to the tweet, the user’s qualifications, government photo ID proof, news coverage, link to tweets, etc., will be a part of it.

 “Twitter is finishing up the new Verification Request form! I don’t work for Twitter. Just wait for when Twitter releases this one soon,” tweeted Wong.

The new Twitter verification format

The new format will also give Twitter users a chance to review their inputs before submitting. This new verification system will also ask users to introduce themselves and choose categories from the pre-decided options given by Twitter, much like a professional or creator’s Instagram account.

Earlier this year, Twitter stated that it will remove incomplete and inactive accounts. It is just the beginning of the verification process. Only once an account is verified does Twitter hand out the prestigious blue tick.

Twitter’s official release

According to Twitter’s official release, the verification process of accounts has been on hold since late 2017. Once the verification process restarts, Twitter plans to use a combination of human review and automation to handle future applications. Twitter’s blog post on blue tick verification gives more insight.

As per the blog, the account applying for verification must represent or be affiliated with a prominently recognized brand or individual. They need to be linked to the government, including heads of state, ministers, elected officials, brands and organizations, well-known companies, news organizations and journalists, sports, organizers, activists, entertainment,  and other influential individuals. Twitter also plans to add a category such as scientists and academics to provide more verifications and authenticity.
