Developers at Mozilla recently fixed over 100 bugs in the Firefox browser, including several security vulnerabilities that could potentially have been exploited by attackers. What makes the case notable is that the issues were discovered by Claude, an artificial intelligence system developed by Anthropic.

The findings highlight how AI tools are becoming powerful assistants for software security research, capable of scanning large codebases and identifying weaknesses that human reviewers might miss.

What happened: Claude AI discovered 112 Firefox bugs

While testing the latest version of its AI model, Claude Opus 4.6, Anthropic researchers identified a large number of flaws in open-source software projects.

Within two weeks, the system flagged 112 potential bugs in the Mozilla Firefox codebase.

Among those issues were:

• 22 security vulnerabilities
• Dozens of stability and performance bugs
• Other flaws that could potentially cause crashes or unexpected behavior
