Every year, the Unicode standard is updated with new emojis. These are added to iOS, smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and all other places. Moreover, every year they draft and vote on emojis before adding them to the final update. This process takes place every year and it ensures that people have new ways to express themself the best. Last year in the Emoji 13.0 update, finger emojis, a black cat, a ninja, an accordion, and bubble tea was added. Last year’s update introduced several gender-neutral options. It included a woman in a tuxedo and a man wearing a veil among 117 others.

So, what new emojis are going to make the cut this year? In the real of standard face emojis, the melting face, face holding back tears, saluting face, face with a peeking eye, face with a diagonal mouth, and selecting face. The current ‘face with a hand over mouth’ emoji will be replaced by a new emoji called ‘face with open eyes and hand over mouth’. It is because the current one looks different on certain platforms like Twitter and iOS.
Emoji 14.0 also has many new hand emojis. It includes both right and leftwards hands, palms up hands, palms down hands, the hand with thumb and index finger crossed, index finger pointing at viewers, etc. Moreover, they are available in various skin tones. The handshake emoji now has 15 new skin tone options. It is a new change from its standard yellow color.
The new emoji update is more inclusive than ever. The prince and princess emojis are now replaced with the ‘person with crown’ emoji. “Pregnant Man and Pregnant Person are new, and recognize that pregnancy is possible for some transgender men and non-binary people,” states Emojipedia. The new rollout is not just limited to these. It also includes a nest with eggs, trolls, lotus, coral, empty nest, beans, jar, pouring liquid, bing buoy, playground slide, and hamsa. It also includes a mirror ball, heavy equals sign, identification card, x-ray, low battery, crutch, and an identification card.
