Elon Musk announced Twitter will soon start sharing ad revenue with creators having Blue subscriptions. Read to know more details about Musk’s new initiative.

Twitter ad revenue to blue subscription creators

According to Elon Musk’s new announcement, Twitter will begin an ad revenue-sharing program with creators on the platform. However, it is only sharing revenue from the reply-threads ads and with creators who subscribed to Twitter’s Blue verification program. As per the announcement, it will start today but, very few details are available about its mechanism. However, so far there is only one tweet by Musk explaining it.

Twitter’s new program is aimed at helping it compete with other social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. They have a system dedicated to paying creators using ad splits of funds. For a while, Musk has been talking to creators about a revenue-sharing system. Previously Twitter introduced the option for creators to monetize their accounts using the Super Follow and Tips feature

More on the new program

Twitter’s new revenue sharing for creators with blue subscriptions comes after YouTube introduced its Partner Program. YouTube is introducing a new method of ad-revenue sharing with content creators on the video platform. Unlike YouTube, Twitter does not have specific requirements needed for earning ad revenue. Additionally, it is unclear how many tweets need to be viral before gaining benefits from the program. Very little is known about it apart from the fact that creators need to have a blue subscription.

However, creators with legacy blue verified accounts will not be gaining from ad revenue. The platform may soon remove legacy verification ticks and make subscribing vital for the verification. The pricing varies with location and is currently $8 per month for Twitter web users. However, people using mobile apps have to pay $11 every month. The subscription offers several benefits such as editing tweets, undoing, grouping, and organizing them. Additionally, it also offers a navigation bar, themes, icons, and a reader feature. Subscribers can also share full HD videos up to 2 GB.
