Bengaluru — Deepspatial, a Toronto-headquartered GeoAI and artificial intelligence company, is significantly expanding its footprint in India. During the largest Team Canada Trade Mission in three decades, the firm signed two major strategic agreements with Indian organisations to scale spatial AI capabilities and enhance student digital media literacy.
Signed on October 16 in the presence of Canada’s Minister of International Trade, Maninder Sidhu, these partnerships aim to bridge advanced technological innovation with real-world institutional expertise.
Advancing GeoAI Innovation with IIT Tirupati
Deepspatial’s first major agreement is with the IIT Tirupati Navavishkar I-Hub Foundation (IITTNiF). This collaboration focuses on pioneering advancements in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), positioning systems, and Spatial AI.
A major highlight of this partnership is the launch of Xploor, Deepspatial’s global GeoAI mentorship programme via the SPIN Labs network. The initiative will provide emerging professionals and students with hands-on exposure to data science and location intelligence by solving real-world challenges.
“Through this partnership, we aim to strengthen India-Canada cooperation in emerging technologies, accelerate technology development and commercialisation, and create new opportunities for startups, researchers and young innovators,” said Dr. Roshan K. Srivastav, Project Director at IITTNiF.
Bringing Credible Journalism to Classrooms via OneIndia
In a move to integrate real-world awareness into digital education, Deepspatial also partnered with Greynium Information Technologies, the parent company of the digital news platform OneIndia.
Under this agreement, OneIndia will supply daily news and current affairs content to edskExpress, Deepspatial’s AI-driven student learning platform. The collaboration aims to cultivate critical thinking, media literacy, and informed reading habits among students, allowing them to engage with and even report on stories from their own communities.

“Credible news shouldn’t stop at the newsroom. It should reach the classroom,” stated Ravanan N., CEO of OneIndia. “For a young reader, seeing what is working, and who is making it work, is what makes change feel possible.”
A Historic $300 Million Trade Mission
These agreements were part of a massive diplomatic and economic push by Global Affairs Canada, which saw a delegation of nearly 300 representatives visit Mumbai and Bengaluru. The mission yielded 34 commercial agreements across sectors like aerospace, clean technology, and AI, with a combined estimated value of close to C$300 million.
Dr. Rahul Kushwah, Founder and CEO of Deepspatial, emphasised the long-term vision of these tie-ups: “As we continue to expand our presence in India and explore opportunities in international markets, our focus remains on building a strong innovation ecosystem that translates advanced technology into measurable outcomes.”
