Chinese plane carrying 132 people was intentionally crashed: Report

A new investigative report on the China Eastern plane crash suggested that the crash could be intentional. On March 21, a Boeing 737-800 airliner was on its way from Kunming to Guangzhou. On its way it crashed into the ground, killing more than 100 people on board. Flight data from a black box recovered from the plane indicates that someone in the cockpit intentionally crashed the plane, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The pilots did not respond to repeated calls from air traffic controllers and nearby planes during the rapid descent, authorities said. The Civil Aviation Administration of China said on April 11 that the speculation had “gravely misled the public” and “interfered with the accident investigation work.”

The 737-800 is a popular precursor of Boeing’s 737 MAX. However, it lacks the features that have been connected to fatal 737-MAX disasters in 2018 and 2019. This forced the MAX to be grounded for an extended period. Following the incident, China Eastern grounded its whole fleet of 737-800 planes. Although it resumed flying in mid-April effectively putting out any new safety concerns with Boeing’s extensively used model.

The final report on the China Eastern plane crash can take 2 years

The Wall Street Journal said the airline earlier gave a statement. It said that no evidence had emerged that could determine whether or not there were any problems with the accident aircraft. Last month, a summary of an unpublished preliminary crash report was released. However, Chinese regulators made no technical specifications on the 737-800. It has been in service since 1997 and has an excellent safety record. Experts suggest the majority of accidents are by a combination of human and technological factors.

Crashing on purpose is quite unusual. Experts highlighted that the latest theory made it unclear if the action was the result of a single pilot acting alone or a struggle or intrusion. Although there is no confirmation on anything from the sources. A final report into the causes could take two years or more to compile, Chinese officials have said. It was the worst aircraft tragedy in mainland China in 28 years.
