Dead man Post Office

Two men took a dead man to the post office. Police suspect the man who was taken into the post office to collect his pension died just three hours prior.

As per DublinLive, two individuals brought the body of Peadar Doyle, 66, into his local branch. It was to claim the money on Friday. Police are questioning them. The audacious duo, alleged to be in their 30s, reportedly carried the body to a post office in Carlow, south-east Ireland. They propped it upon their shoulders.

According to reports, the man’s body was held up against the counter so that he could be identified. Then, the duo got the money. However, a member of staff at the branch noticed the pensioner was ashen-faced and alerted the cops. The males then departed the scene after dropping the body on the floor.

The man may have been dead for up to three hours before being carried to the post office, according to Gardai. He did not die under suspicious circumstances, according to a postmortem.

According to the Irish Sun on Sunday, the duo’s objective was to obtain money to buy drugs.

In a statement, police said: “A postmortem of the deceased has been concluded. The results of the post mortem are not being released for operational reasons. Foul play is not suspected.”

Reports say that one of the suspects went into the post office and sought to claim the man’s pension. The pair allegedly returned a few hours later after getting the information that only Mr. Doyle could get the money in person. Before escorting him out of his house and back to the Post Office, the duo wrapped a woolen jumper over his face and a cap on his head.

Onlookers stated that his feet were “dragging” along the ground during the short trip.

According to the Irish Independent, a local woman who lives near the post office said her daughter saw two guys carrying a man into the establishment.

“She was leaving my house at the time and said the man looked unwell as his feet were dragging the ground,” she said.

The two men insisted Mr. Doyle was alive when they brought him in to collect his welfare cheque, according to a source who spoke to the Irish Sunday Mirror last night.

Total shock

Neighbors of the dead said they are in “total shock” after the incident.

One woman says, “He was a lovely man, a lovely neighbor and we’re all very upset.”

“We don’t want to speculate about what happened but all I can say is it’s a sad night and a shock,” another said.

A priest who administered last rites to Mr. Doyle said: “Hopefully he is at peace now.”

The Mayor of Carlow, Fianna Fáil councilor Ken Murnane, also expressed shock at the news.

“I was absolutely shocked to hear about what happened,” he said. “I cannot believe
anyone would do something like that. It beggars belief, I’m just shocked.”

On Monday, his burial is at St Mary’s Cemetery after a funeral Mass at the Church of the Holy Family.
