What do exit polls tell about the US midterms?
The midterm elections are underway in the US and both the Democrats and Republicans are fighting to secure a majority. Recent exit polls reveal signs of a huge problem looming over the Democrats relating to the upcoming presidential elections in 2024. Results of exit polls conducted by CNN and other networks by Edison Research reveal over 66 percent of those who voted for House candidates did not want Biden to run for the elections in 2024.
Seven in every 10 independent votes and about nine in every 10 Republican voters stated they do not want President Biden to be a part of the upcoming race. Additionally, six in every 10 Democratic voters thought that the incumbent president should run in 2024. The results come as voters have an unfavorable view of Biden and his work. Moreover, only one in 10 Democratic voters have an adverse view of Biden.
Americans are not happy with Biden
Looking beyond 2022, most voters are not keen on Biden going up for a second term in the Oval Office. The exit poll results also reveal that about 66 percent of independent votes and over 90 percent have an adverse view of former US President Donald Trump. Barely over 75 percent of GOP voters had a favorable view of Trump. Additionally, it is important to note that independent voters make up about 25 percent of the electorate. On the other hand, about 33 percent is made up of Democratic voters. And Republican voters make up a little over 33 percent.
