Ukrainian model discovered with severe injuries after vanishing from hotel party
Dubai: A Ukrainian model who went missing for 10 days after allegedly attending a hotel party in Dubai was found near death on the side of a road, with multiple severe injuries.
Maria Kovalchuk, 20, had told friends she was attending a party but failed to board her flight to Thailand two days later, sparking concern. For over a week, there was no trace of her.
She was eventually discovered with a broken spine, fractured limbs, and other serious injuries. Reports indicate she was unable to speak when found.
After being rushed to a hospital, Kovalchuk underwent four surgeries in an effort to save her life.
Fears of trafficking and abuse emerge
Concerns are growing that Kovalchuk may have been a victim of human trafficking. Local Russian media reported that her relatives suspect she was held captive and abused for several days before being left on the roadside.
It is believed she may have attended an exclusive party involving “unknown sheiks,” where Eastern European models and influencers are often recruited. The event is suspected to be a “Porta Potty” party, a term used for gatherings where women are allegedly paid large sums to engage in degrading acts.
Reports suggest Kovalchuk met with two men from the modeling industry before disappearing. The following day, she told her family she would stay with them. She was last heard from before her scheduled flight to Thailand, which she never boarded.
Her mother, Anna, traveled from Norway to be by her side as she recovered. Despite her traumatic injuries, her family remains hopeful for a full recovery.
“She is receiving medical treatment, and everything will be all right,” her mother posted on social media.
Dubai police dismiss foul play claims
Authorities in Dubai confirmed that Kovalchuk had been reported missing but stated that her injuries resulted from an accident.
“A comprehensive investigation has revealed that she sustained serious injuries after entering a restricted construction site alone and falling from a height,” local police stated.
However, her family disputes this claim, with Russian media suggesting that her disappearance and condition indicate something far more sinister.
Warnings against dangerous parties
Russian lawyer Katya Gordon has urged influencers to avoid such parties, warning of the risks involved.
“The model was found dying on the side of the road in the UAE after a party with Arab sheiks,” Gordon said, as reported by The Sun.
“The scandal around Porta Potty parties has been ongoing for over a year. There are videos online showing girls being beaten, their hair cut, and subjected to other forms of abuse.”
She urged young women to reconsider attending such events, emphasizing the life-threatening dangers.
“Girls, women, and their mothers—do not go to these parties for money. You could lose your life.”
