Vivian Jenna Wilson performs at activist drag show supporting immigration defense efforts
Vivian Jenna Wilson, the transgender daughter of tech billionaire Elon Musk, made her public drag debut at a high-profile fundraiser in Los Angeles over the weekend. The event, organized in protest of recent immigration enforcement raids, aimed to support individuals impacted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions.
The 21-year-old performed as part of “SAVE HER!,” an environmental and political drag show hosted by renowned drag activist Pattie Gonia. Held at The Bellwether in downtown L.A., the performance brought together artists and activists united in their opposition to aggressive immigration policies.
A powerful stage moment
Wilson, who has publicly distanced herself from her father and his politics, took the stage wearing a striking black catsuit, a metal corset, and high-heeled boots. She concluded her set by waving the transgender pride flag, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.
“This was a milestone,” Wilson wrote in an Instagram post featuring backstage and performance photos. “Thank you so much to everyone for a life-changing experience while helping raise money for those in need. Fulfilling forever dreams.”
According to event organizers, all proceeds were directed to an immigration legal defense fund focused on individuals affected by recent ICE activity.
Context: Anti-ICE protests intensify across U.S.
The event took place just blocks from areas of civil unrest tied to escalating immigration protests. Tensions flared after federal ICE agents conducted sweeping raids throughout Los Angeles on June 6, leading to dozens of arrests of undocumented immigrants.
In response, President Donald Trump ordered the deployment of nearly 5,000 troops, including National Guard units and U.S. Marines, to patrol Los Angeles. The move drew fierce criticism from local officials.
California Governor Gavin Newsom accused Trump of “pulling a military dragnet” across the city and announced intentions to file a lawsuit. “This is a reckless use of federal force to suppress civil dissent,” Newsom said.
Mass deportation directive fuels national outrage
Protests have since spread to several other major U.S. cities, including New York, Seattle, Chicago, Austin, Las Vegas, and Washington, D.C.
In a controversial social media statement on Sunday, Trump directed federal immigration agencies to focus deportation efforts on Democratic-led cities. He referred to the campaign as “the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History,” vowing aggressive enforcement.
