The “Inconsistency” Argument Representative Ro Khanna (D-CA) has publicly challenged the validity of Maxwell’s silence. In a blistering letter to Chairman James Comer, Khanna pointed out that Maxwell’s current stance is “inconsistent” with her behavior in July 2025. During a two-day interview with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, Maxwell answered extensive questions about Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and the existence of a “client list”—all without invoking the Fifth Amendment.
Legal experts suggest that because Maxwell was granted limited immunity for that DOJ interview, she may have “waived” her privilege regarding those specific topics.
The Unredacted Files: A New Reality
The timing of Maxwell’s silence is particularly notable. Today, February 9, marks the first day that members of Congress are permitted to review unredacted versions of the more than 3 million files released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
While Maxwell remains silent, the documents, which include travel logs, calendars, and message ledgers, may speak for her. Lawmakers are specifically looking for:
- The identities of the “four co-conspirators” Maxwell referenced in a 2025 court filing.
- Details on the 25 men who allegedly entered into secret settlements.
- Any evidence of foreign intelligence involvement (Russia or Israel) in Epstein’s operations.
