Idaho man charged with threatening to kill Donald Trump in disturbing phone calls

An Idaho man has been arrested and charged after allegedly making multiple threats to assassinate former President Donald Trump. Warren Jones Crazybull, 64, is accused of making at least nine threatening phone calls to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on July 31, according to court documents obtained by Forbes.

Threatening calls to Mar-a-Lago

Court filings reveal that the Mar-a-Lago security team received a call from a number identified as “Warren Jones.” In one of the calls, Crazybull allegedly stated, “I am coming down to Bedminster tomorrow. I am going to down him personally and kill him.” Security reported this to the Secret Service, which led to an investigation.

Over the day, eight more threatening phone calls were made from the same number, all directed at Trump.

Investigation and arrest

Secret Service agents used phone records and voice analysis to identify Crazybull as the suspect. They compared his voice on the recorded calls to videos on his Facebook page. Using T-Mobile phone data, authorities tracked him down in Montana, where he was arrested in August.

During questioning, Crazybull reportedly told investigators that while he wouldn’t attempt to kill Trump, he was determined to “not let him become president again,” according to court documents.

A pattern of threats against Trump

The alleged phone threats occurred just two weeks after an unrelated incident in Pennsylvania, where a gunman opened fire at a Trump rally in Butler. The former president was struck in the ear but survived the attack.

In yet another case, Ryan Routh was arrested last week after stalking Trump in West Palm Beach, Florida, armed with an AK-47-style rifle.

Authorities said Routh had been on the FBI’s radar since 2019, but the investigation was closed before his recent actions led to his arrest.

Ongoing security concerns

As Trump continues to be a target of various threats, his security team and federal authorities are on high alert. Crazybull’s case highlights the ongoing dangers surrounding the former president as he remains a prominent figure in American politics.
