JFK files released: Trump administration officially declassifies thousands of new documents

The Trump administration has made new documents related to the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy, commonly known as the JFK files, publicly available on the National Archives website.

An official statement on the site read: “In accordance with President Donald Trump’s directive of March 17, 2025, all records previously withheld for classification that are part of the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection are released.”

Public access to the JFK files

The National Archives collaborated with multiple agencies to fulfill Trump’s directive under Executive Order 14176.

“As of March 18, 2025, the records are available online on this page or in person—via hard copy or analog media formats—at the National Archives in College Park, Maryland. As digitization continues, more records will be added to this page,” the statement concluded.

Trump delivers on JFK file release promise

President Trump promised on Monday that he would be releasing nearly 80,000 unredacted pages of the JFK files today. Most of the records related to the 1963 assassination have been made public, according to the National Archives and Records Administration.

While Trump had already declassified additional JFK documents in 2017, thousands remained fully or partially redacted until now.

The Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, commended Trump for keeping his promise.
