Nine-Month-Old Baby on Ventilator After Horrific Incident

Newton County, Missouri – A nine-month-old baby boy, Waylon, is clinging to life on a ventilator after allegedly suffering a brutal assault at the hands of his mother’s boyfriend, Jordan Boggess, 28. The incident, which occurred on September 14, has left the infant with severe head injuries and a bleak prognosis.

“Bear hug” attack and shocking admission

According to investigators, Boggess admitted to throwing little Waylon into the air twice while the child cried, during a moment when Waylon’s mother was in the bathroom. On the second throw, Boggess reportedly dropped the child, blaming his “sweaty” hands for the accident. However, the situation took a darker turn as Boggess allegedly resorted to “bear-hugging” the baby until his cries ceased.

The chilling incident took place at a residence in Newton County, Missouri, and left Waylon unresponsive. The child was rushed to a local hospital, where medical professionals discovered signs of “abusive head trauma” and diagnosed him with a brain bleed.

Baby Waylon’s condition: Seizures and uncertain future

Waylon has since been placed on a ventilator and has experienced multiple seizures as doctors continue to monitor his condition. The devastating nature of the injuries has left the family facing an uncertain and heartbreaking reality.

Christa Newman, Waylon’s grandmother, expressed her deep sorrow over the prognosis: “They said baby Waylon will not be the same baby. If he makes it, he’ll be wheelchair-bound. He will not be able to talk. He will not be able to feed himself,” Newman shared in a gut-wrenching interview with KY3.

Waylon’s grandfather, Tyler Burbridge, added, “It’s hard. I’m lost for words. As parents, our job is to protect our children and be there. This is the hardest fight that I’ve ever, I’ve ever had to do.”

Legal proceedings and next steps

Jordan Boggess is currently being held without bond at the Newton County Jail as the investigation continues. The case has left the community in shock, with many expressing outrage and sadness over the senseless violence inflicted on such a young child.

The family, who now faces the unimaginable challenge of navigating Waylon’s medical needs, has called for prayers and support during this difficult time.
