Mothers arrested after abandoning children in car to drink at Arizona bar
Police discover marijuana in vehicle accessible to unsupervised minors, including infant

Two women face serious charges after allegedly leaving four children unattended in a parked car while they consumed alcohol at a nearby establishment, according to Glendale authorities. Police responding to the scene also discovered marijuana within reach of the children.

The incident occurred on March 8 around 11 p.m. when a concerned citizen noticed a young child wandering unsupervised through a parking area in Glendale, Arizona, prompting an immediate call to local law enforcement.

Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle containing multiple unsupervised children, including a seven-month-old infant. During their investigation, police discovered a substantial quantity of marijuana stored in the vehicle’s glove compartment, easily accessible to the minors.

Women return intoxicated after extended absence

Approximately 45 minutes into the police response, the children’s mothers returned to the vehicle displaying clear signs of intoxication. Officers noted both women exhibited slurred speech and smelled strongly of alcohol.

When confronted about abandoning their children, one woman initially denied the allegation, claiming they had merely entered Salt Tacos y Tequila Bar to use the restroom. However, this explanation contradicted the extended period officers had already spent with the unattended children.

“That’s a lie. We’ve been standing with these kids for over 45 minutes,” one officer stated when the women claimed they had only been absent for 15 minutes.

Emotional plea fails to prevent child protective action

As authorities prepared to remove the children from their custody, one mother made an emotional appeal.

“Like seriously, they’re the only things I’ve got. I know this is super, super bad, I promise… My heart’s about to explode,” she said.

Despite her pleas, all four children were transported to a local hospital for evaluation while both women were taken into custody. They now face charges of criminal negligence and child abuse, according to police reports.

The case highlights growing concerns about child endangerment incidents involving parental substance use and negligent supervision across the country.
