From plush bags to beef, these product recalls aim to protect consumer safety

Between May 19 and May 25, seven products were recalled across the United States over safety concerns ranging from contamination to fire risks. The recalls affect a wide range of items, including deli salads, stuffed toys, car parts, meat products, and electronic devices. Here’s a detailed breakdown of what was recalled and why.

1. Deli salads made with cucumbers from Bedner Growers

Cucumbers supplied by Bedner Growers tested positive for salmonella, leading to the recall of several store-made deli items. Products affected include:

  • Salad Greek Authentic FS (Sell-by: May 23–24)
  • Readymade Salad Greek SS (Sell-by: May 20–24)
  • Salad Greek FS (Sell-by: May 20–24)
These items were distributed by Fresh Creative Foods to stores including ACME, Safeway, and Shaw’s across multiple states in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

Advice: Dispose of these items or return them for a full refund.
Contact: Albertsons Customer Service at 1-877-723-3929 (Mon–Fri, 5 a.m.–9 p.m. PT)

2. Primark’s Stitch and Angel plush bags

The CPSC recalled Primark’s plush bags featuring Disney’s Stitch and Angel characters due to a choking hazard. The zipper pull on these bags can detach, posing a risk to children.

Sold at: Primark stores in the Northeast, Florida, Maryland, and Illinois between March and October 2024.
Advice: Return or discard the product.
Contact: (617) 946-3236

3. Yiisonger KT-D007 power banks

Nearly 93,000 power banks sold under the KT-D007 model were recalled for fire and burn risks due to overheating. These were sold on Amazon between April 2022 and February 2025 for $22–$40.

The CPSC received 79 incident reports, including swelling, ignition, and even explosions. One case alone caused $15 million in property damage.

Advice: Do not throw them in regular trash — dispose of them at a local hazardous waste center.

4. Toyota Tundra (443,000 units)

Toyota recalled 443,000 Tundra trucks due to non-functional reverse lights. Moisture build-up is causing corrosion in the wiring, which could lead to accidents.

Next steps: Affected owners will be contacted starting in July. Dealers will replace the reverse light units and inspect wiring free of charge.

5. Ground beef from Bismillah Halal Meats (Marietta, Georgia)

The USDA issued a public health alert (but no recall) for ground beef potentially contaminated with E. coli O103. The affected products were sold from April 10–23, 2025.

Discovered by: FSIS retail surveillance. No illnesses reported so far.
Advice: Discard or return the product.

6. Chicken coxinhas by Snack Mania Brazilian Delights (New Jersey)

Roughly 9,722 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken coxinhas were recalled. The issue: they were made at an uninspected facility and lacked the USDA inspection mark.

Products were packaged in 16.37-oz. plastic bags labeled “Snack Mania COXINHAS BRAZILIAN STUFFED BITES Original Chicken,” made between June 27, 2024, and May 2, 2025.

Advice: Discard or return.
Contact: Camilla Gomes-Alvez at 908-875-1324 or [email protected]

7. Smoked andouille sausage by Bourgeois Smokehouse (Louisiana)

About 100 pounds of smoked andouille sausage were recalled due to possible Listeria contamination. The product was made on May 12, 2025, and sold the next day in Rouses Markets across Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

Advice: Return or dispose of the sausage if purchased.
Contact: Blake or Logan Bourgeois at 985-447-1604 or [email protected]
