Trump says Taylor Swift is ‘no longer hot’ since his public criticism

Social media attack renews conflict with music icon

President Donald Trump renewed his public feud with music superstar Taylor Swift on Friday, taking to his Truth Social platform to claim the singer has lost her appeal since he publicly expressed his dislike for her.

“Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?'” Trump wrote in a morning post, referencing his previous criticisms of the 35-year-old artist.

Ongoing tension stems from political disagreement

The conflict between Trump and Swift dates back to the 2024 presidential campaign, when the “Shake It Off” singer endorsed Trump’s opponent, Kamala Harris, following a presidential debate last September.

“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” Swift wrote in an Instagram post at the time. “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”

Trump responded immediately with an all-caps declaration on Truth Social: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.” In a subsequent Fox & Friends interview, he stated he was “not a Taylor Swift fan,” predicting she would “probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

Pattern of criticism continues

This isn’t the first time Trump has targeted Swift since taking office in January. Following the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in February, the president mockingly commented on Swift’s presence at the game.

“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift,” he wrote. “She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”

Inconsistent messaging

Trump’s latest criticisms stand in stark contrast to comments he made about Swift less than a year ago. In a June 2024 interview with Variety, Trump praised the singer’s appearance while acknowledging their likely political differences.

“She probably doesn’t like Trump. I hear she’s very talented. I think she’s very beautiful, actually — unusually beautiful!” Trump told the publication.
