Authorities detain wife of fugitive Vance Boelter after a suspicious stop near Onamia
Jenny Boelter, the wife of Minnesota shooting suspect Vance Luther Boelter, has been detained for questioning after police discovered weapons, ammunition, cash, and several passports in her vehicle during a traffic stop near Onamia, Minnesota. The incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, June 14, and has raised new questions about the fugitive’s support network as law enforcement continues its manhunt.
Weapons and passports found during stop
According to a report by local outlet KTSP, the stop involved two police cruisers, which remained on the scene for nearly three hours. Several of Jenny Boelter’s relatives were also reportedly in the car at the time of the search. While she was taken in for questioning, she has not been arrested.
The discovery of the items inside her vehicle comes as authorities intensify efforts to locate her husband, who is wanted in connection with a series of violent attacks across Minnesota.
Vance Boelter suspected in multiple shootings
Vance Boelter remains on the run and is considered a suspect in a wave of shootings that began early Saturday. Authorities believe he is responsible for the attack on Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and his wife at their Champlin residence, which left both seriously injured.
Shortly after, Boelter is alleged to have driven to the home of former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman, where he reportedly killed Hortman and her husband. Police sources cited by the New York Post have confirmed these details as part of their ongoing investigation.
SWAT teams raid Boelter’s home in Camden
Though it is unclear whether Jenny and Vance Boelter were living together at the time, law enforcement officials confirmed that a residence associated with Vance in Camden, Minnesota, was raided by SWAT teams on Saturday afternoon. No further information has been released about what was discovered during the raid.
“He said that he might be dead soon”
New details have also emerged about Vance Boelter’s state of mind leading up to the shootings. David Carlson, a 59-year-old Minneapolis resident and longtime friend, told Reuters that Boelter had been living with him for over a year because of proximity to his workplace.
Carlson recalled seeing Boelter on Friday night, just hours before receiving a troubling message from him the next morning. “He said that he might be dead soon,” Carlson told Reuters. He immediately contacted authorities.
Carlson, who has known Boelter since fourth grade, expressed shock and sadness over the events. “His family has got to suffer through this,” he said. “I feel betrayed.”
As of now, the search for Vance Boelter continues, with police urging the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings. Authorities have not confirmed whether Jenny Boelter is suspected of being directly involved in her husband’s alleged crimes.
