Iranian news anchor flees shaking studio as conflict escalates between regional rivals
As Israel intensifies its air campaign across Iran, a missile struck the compound of Iran’s state television network during a live broadcast, sending shockwaves through the studio and forcing the anchor to flee mid-bulletin.
Anchor escapes mid-broadcast as missile hits compound
In dramatic footage circulating online, a missile slammed into the premises of Iran’s state-run TV studio while anchor Sahar Imami was delivering a live news bulletin. The blast caused the entire studio to tremble. Imami was seen abruptly leaving her desk as shouts of “Allahu Akbar” rang out in the background.
Local media reports from Tehran indicate that both Imami and the studio staff emerged unharmed. There are unverified claims that she may have returned to her post to continue covering the unfolding crisis, but these reports have not been independently confirmed.
Israel asserts “total air superiority” as Tehran comes under fire
Missiles have been raining down across Iran, particularly in its capital, as Israel claims to have achieved “total air superiority” amid a sharp escalation in hostilities between the two long-time adversaries. Israel has signaled that its campaign will expand further in the days ahead, following Iran’s recent missile barrage targeting Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz released a stark warning, saying:
“While there is no intention to physically harm the residents of Tehran as the murderous dictator does against the residents of Israel, the residents of Tehran will be forced to pay the price of dictatorship and evacuate their homes from areas where it will be necessary to attack regime targets and security infrastructure in Tehran. We will continue to protect the residents of Israel.”
Iranian civilians flee capital amid fears of broader assault
Despite Iranian officials dismissing Katz’s statement as “psychological warfare,” panic has gripped Tehran. State media later showed miles-long traffic jams on outbound highways, with residents rushing to leave the city. Many are stockpiling supplies and heading to smaller towns to escape the expected onslaught.
Among the evacuees are hundreds of Indian students, who are being relocated to the city of Qom—approximately 150 kilometers from Tehran—as part of an emergency effort coordinated by the Indian embassy. Some students are also being moved to other towns as embassy officials work to ensure their safety.
Israel vows to “eliminate nuclear and missile threats”
In a separate statement from Tel Nof airbase, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated the country’s objectives:
“We are on our way to achieving our two main objectives: eliminating the nuclear threat and eliminating the missile threat.”
Israel’s military escalation follows Iran’s launch of hundreds of ballistic missiles, a significant number of which were intercepted by Israeli defense systems. Nevertheless, authorities confirmed that seven Iranian missiles did penetrate those defenses, causing injuries to over 100 people.
As the conflict continues to unfold with increasing ferocity, both nations appear locked in a dangerous spiral, with civilians on both sides bracing for further devastation.
