A UK woman was taken aback when she discovered a century-old Dairy Milk wrapper under her bathroom flooring in her 1930s home. Emma Young of Plymouth came across a Cadbury’s purple packet, which she initially mistook for garbage. Nonetheless, the package was in perfect shape, which piqued her interest, and she contacted the chocolate manufacturer for more information, according to The Metro.
Cadbury’s Dairy Milk cost sixpence, or approximately Rs 5.4, in 1930-1934. “Cadbury’s Dairy Milk chocolate Neapolitan,” it claimed on the package, “crafted in the garden village of Bournville, England.” While rodents chewed one side of it, the remainder of the portion is still in fantastic condition. The woman intends to frame and exhibit the envelope in her home.
“There’s no chocolate inside, someone’s had the treasure. It’s an obvious sleeve, I think the bar inside would have slid out. The house was built around 1932 and given its age and that the Dairy Milk chocolate was only around between 1930-34, I’m wondering if it was a builder having a snack that left it,” she was quoted as saying by The Metro.
The 51-year-old chocolate addict smiled broadly when she discovered the packet, which was older than her two children’s great-grandmother.
Cadbury reacted to the unusual discovery. “We were happy to see the joy that this piece of Cadbury history has brought,” a Cadbury representative told The Sun. Cadbury, the nation’s favourite chocolate brand, has a long background and has been a part of British culture and tradition for nearly 200 years.
“These 1930s Dairy Milk Neopolitans are a reminder that our chocolate plays a cherished role in people’s lives and we’re thrilled to hear that this particular discovery will be treasured forever.”
